Zoe Saldana All Wrong For Nina Simone Biopic Says Simone Family

Screen Shot 2016-03-03 at 2.11.03 PM

The estate of the late legendary soul & jazz singer Nina Simone is furious over Zoe Saldana being cast as Nina Simone, saying Saldana looks nothing like the beloved singer.

According to sources, the estate, which runs the official Nina Simone twitter account, raged out at Saldana after she tweeted the following quote from Nina:

“I’ll tell you what freedom is to me – No fear…I mean really, no fear.”

Simone’s twitter responded harshly and quickly, shooting back:

“Cool story but please take Nina’s name out of your mouth. For the rest of your life.”

Simone’s family, friends & fans are upset over the fact that Zoe’s skin was darkened quite significantly, and she was given a prosthetic nose, just to look like remotely like Nina. Screen Shot 2016-03-03 at 2.11.13 PM

With all the controversy over how white hollywood is, it does seem sad that a director would have to go to such extreme lengths to shape someone into Nina Simone, when there are so many talented African American actors who look much more like Nina Simone than Zoe Saldana does.

Tony Award winner Viola Davis, and the transcendent Uzo Aduba, from Orange Is The New Black, were both mentioned as better choices for the role of Nina.

There has been no word from Saldana, or her representation on the matter, and even though she can hardly be blamed for this upset, it seems better casting was in order.

Taylor Swift Finds Love Thanks to Lady Gaga’s “Magical Spell”

This whole time we thought Ellie Goulding played Cupid and set up Taylor Swift with DJ and music producer Calvin Harris – but turns outs someone else was playing Cupid and working her magic, Lady Gaga!

One of Taylor’s fans tweeted to her about his romantic blues on Saturday, and Taylor was quick to respond. “Go read Gaga’s tweet that she sent me a few months ago. It’s good love luck. Because it’s not a tweet. It’s a magical spell.” (See below)

The tweet Taylor is referring to was posted back in March; Gaga posted this message in reply to a tweet by Taylor. (See below)

Luck have it, Taylor was cuddled up to Calvin Harris soon after at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. Here’s to hoping Taylor’s fan has the same luck and magic rubs off on him.

AMA 2014 HIGHLIGHTS!

Taylor Swift opened the show with her new single “Blank Space” and definitely went a little insane! It was a huge production that was very entertaining. She was lip syncing some parts – and it was very apparent – because she forgot to sing a whole verse! It was a little confusing to when she was going to sing and when she might stop pretending to sing… Nonetheless, it was a very fun performance and she definitely showed us she could act!

One Direction took home a few awards, but the most important being “Artist of the Year 2014”. Even when up against the toughest competition including, Beyonce, Luke Bryan, Iggy Azalia and Katy Perry, they still pulled through. Leaving the AMA’s, 1D has 3 new awards to add to their list. The other awards included “Favorite Band”, and “Favorite Pop/Rock Album” for their album, Midnight Memories.

2014 American Music Awards - Show

Then to some performances by Charli singing “Boom Clap”, Magic! singing “Rude”, and 5 Seconds of summer singing “What I Like About You”. Followed by an outstanding performance by Imagine Dragons debuting their new single “I Bet My Life”

IMAGINE DRAGONS

Sam smith wins “Favorite Male Artist” He is so overwhelmed, stating he didn’t think he was going to win. This is Sams first major award, and we are sure there are many big things to come from this 22 year old celeb! He then went on stage to perform his current single “I’m Not The Only One”. Always an amazing performance by sam smith, his voice is beautiful!

Beyoncé Releases 14 New Music Videos

A few days ago, Beyonce stirred up the internet with her new music video for 7/11. We are still not sure what to think about it, as are many other people. It seems to be shot with a phone and is comprised mainly of Bey dancing around many hotel rooms in her panties (but we can’t complain). It’s edited really well, and just keeps your eyes glued to the screen, so she must have done something right. Check it out for yourself

The video was apparently inspired by Gab Valenciano, whose videos feature quick editing and fancy dance moves. This is what he wrote on Facebook last saturday:

Screen shot 2014-11-24 at 12.34.11 PM

Just hours ago, Bey released 13 more music videos to her ‘Platinum Edition’ Album that you can check out here: Beyonce Vevo

Our favourite, is her Frank Ocean collaboration of “Superpower”, which displays stunning visuals, cinematography and cameos by celebrities like Pharrell Williams (who produced the track) and her Destiny’s Child sisters, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

‘Platinum Edition’ has sold over 5 million copies worldwide and has been repackaged, just in time for the holidays 😉 Box Set includes : 2 New Tracks . 4 New Remixes . 10 Live performances . 2015 Mini Calendar . 2 Photo Books . 17 Music Videos
